New Secondary School at Hanwood Park Confirmed
15 December 2025
Residents and local families have received welcome news as confirmation has been given that a new secondary school at Hanwood Park will go ahead.
The proposed Hanwood Park School, which will be run by Orbis Education Trust, has been reviewed by the Department for Education and approved to proceed, providing much-needed additional school places in the area.
Local MP Rosie Wrighting has long highlighted the pressure on Kettering’s secondary schools and the importance of new provision on the Hanwood Park estate. She welcomed the confirmation from Josh MacAlister MP, Minister for Children and Families, and said: “I know local people are concerned about pressure on already over-subscribed secondary schools in Kettering. I am pleased that we now have confirmation that Hanwood Park School will go ahead, providing clarity for parents and the wider community. I will continue to push for an opening date and keep constituents updated.”
Chris Langdon, Project Director at Hanwood Park, also expressed his enthusiasm: “On behalf of our residents, the wider community, and ourselves, we are absolutely delighted with this confirmation. Having worked closely with the Department for Education, Orbis Education Trust, and North Northamptonshire, we understand the significance of this project. We are ready to get moving, and alongside other new facilities such as the upcoming David Lloyd Club, this is another clear vote of confidence in the sustainability and success of Hanwood Park.”
The Government has also announced a substantial investment in schools over the coming years, including funding to create additional mainstream school places and adaptations for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The Hanwood Park School will provide much-needed capacity for local families and represents an exciting step forward in the continued growth and development of the Hanwood Park community.
