More than 200 people attend Community Wellbeing Day

9 July 2026

Dance performances, yoga sessions and family activities helped draw more than 200 residents and visitors to Hanwood Park’s recent Community Wellbeing Day - as the growing community came together for a day focused on health, connection and wellbeing.

Held across the development’s linear park and reservoir area, the free event featured everything from Bollywood dance and children’s entertainment to mini health checks, cycle repairs and advice from local organisations.

Chris Langdon, Project Director at Hanwood Park, said: “Creating a successful new community. It’s about bringing people together, helping them feel connected to where they live and making sure they have access to the services, activities and support they need to thrive. It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout and a real sense of community throughout the day, with residents engaging with local organisations and enjoying everything on offer.”

More than 15 organisations took part, including David Lloyd Kettering, Centrick, Brightwayz, Orbit Homes, Grace Homes, North Northamptonshire Council’s Active Communities team, Home-Start, local police and fire services, Kettering Library and a range of community groups. Café Roots, which recently opened at the development, also welcomed visitors throughout the day.

Rob Wallace, General Manager at David Lloyd Kettering, commented: “It was a pleasure for David Lloyd Kettering to be part of this Community Wellbeing Event and to see so many families and local residents getting involved. Our team loved hosting children's activities and SPIRIT yoga sessions, and we're proud to support initiatives that bring people together and encourage healthier, happier lifestyles within our community.”

Orbit Homes were also among the exhibitors on the day, treating visitors to an array of garden games and sharing information on its Better Days programme.

Emily Brundson, Place Investment and Partnerships Lead for Orbit in the East Midlands, said: “Championing mental health and wellbeing is key to building caring, healthy communities. That’s why we’re proud to offer comprehensive wellbeing support through our free Better Days programme. This event was a great opportunity to connect with residents and highlight the range of support available. We’re grateful to the Hanwood Park team for bringing so many organisations together to support the community.”

This Community Wellbeing Day was shaped by feedback from Hanwood Park’s first major resident survey earlier this year, in which nearly 300 residents highlighted health services, local amenities, green spaces, and safe walking and cycling routes as key priorities.

Chris added: “Our ambition at Hanwood Park has always been to create a place where people feel genuinely at home. That means safe streets, good neighbours, green spaces and a sense of belonging. Seeing so many residents come together for our wellbeing event was fantastic. We're grateful to everyone who took part - and to the residents who made it such a worthwhile day. Look forward to building on it and making it even better next year.”
