Construction begins on David Lloyd Club as Hanwood Park development progresses
17 December 2025
Hanwood Park is going from strength to strength with construction now underway on the new David Lloyd Kettering Club - the latest milestone in the delivery of the development's ambitious new vision.
The start of construction at the premium health and leisure facility comes as Hanwood Park advances multiple elements of its masterplan, with outline planning and the signing of the Section 106 agreement imminent, and marketing launched for the next residential and commercial phases.
David Lloyd Kettering, granted planning permission by North Northamptonshire Council in October 2025, will be the first David Lloyd Club in the Northamptonshire region and represents a significant vote of confidence in Hanwood Park's future. The club will provide state-of-the-art fitness facilities including a 100+ station gym, heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools, premium tennis and padel courts, and a luxury Spa Retreat.
The development will create up to 100 jobs and serve residents across Hanwood Park, Barton Seagrave, Burton Latimer and the wider Kettering area.
A spokesperson for David Lloyd Clubs said: "David Lloyd Kettering was granted planning permission by North Northamptonshire Council in October 2025 with a vision of creating a healthy and sustainable community. Kettering will be the first David Lloyd Club in the Northamptonshire region, with the nearest alternative in Peterborough or Rugby."
Chris Langdon, Project Director of Hanwood Park, said: "We are thrilled to see construction underway at the new David Lloyd Club at Hanwood Park – this project is a real boost to the area and brings a strong and foundational cornerstone to the next phases of our scheme, demonstrating real confidence.
“We are especially pleased at the momentum David Lloyd has maintained and which we continue to drive forward as we secure the new outline planning approval and progress plans for the district centre, schools and other new amenities. The positive feedback we received during community consultation earlier this year demonstrates the strong local appetite for these facilities, and we're confident that
“David Lloyd Kettering will quickly become highly valued for families across Hanwood Park, Barton Seagrave, Burton Latimer and the wider Kettering area. We look forward to welcoming residents as doors are opened in winter 2026."
The David Lloyd Club announcement follows successful community engagement on Design Codes for the development, which received strong support from local residents. This collaborative approach continues to shape Hanwood Park's evolution as a thriving, healthy community.
Education remains a priority for Hanwood Park, with funding secured for the next primary school, which North Northamptonshire Council is targeting to open in September 2027. Plans for a secondary school are also progressing. The proposed Hanwood Park School, which will be run by Orbis Education Trust, has been reviewed by the Department for Education and approved to proceed, providing much-needed additional school places in the area.
The David Lloyd Club announcement follows successful community engagement on Design Codes for the development, which received strong support from local residents. The development's commitment to creating healthy places is exemplified through initiatives including sponsorship of the NNC Active Awards, building on successful community projects that have established Hanwood Park as an engaged and active neighbourhood.
Strong support from local stakeholders, investors and residential developers continues to drive momentum at Hanwood Park, with further announcements expected in early 2026 regarding key infrastructure delivery, updates on the planned new junction onto the A14, and the outcomes of ongoing marketing with other commercial operators.
