Santa and his reindeer made an early appearance, on Friday 2nd December, at Hanwood Park’s first official Christmas Fair. Assisted by Hanwood Park Residents’ Association, Hanwood Park LLP, the master developer behind the new neighbourhood on the eastern edge of Kettering, invited residents from the surrounding area along to East Wood Avenue Park to enjoy a variety of festive activities.

As well as browsing gift stalls and enjoying Christmas drinks, attendees were given the opportunity to visit Santa in his grotto, meet the reindeer, and participate in some traditional fairground sidestall games – which had been given a seasonal twist. Instead of dislodging coconuts and attempting to toss rings around bottle necks, players were targeting carefully balanced Christmas puddings and antlers!

“There are now more than 900 homes occupied at Hanwood Park and the community is thriving,” says Chris Langdon from Hanwood Park LLP. “Our Christmas Fair is the latest community event on our programme and we were delighted that Santa and his reindeer were able to come along and make the event so special.”

Residents are being asked to get involved in shaping Hanwood Park’s ongoing development, by having their say about the spaces, places and activities that are important to them.

“We held a series of engagement events in October, which were attended by more than 200 people,” adds Chris “The Christmas Fair was one of the suggestions put forward by residents and we’re asking people to share their ideas about the events they would like to see take place in 2023”.
