Final plans on our 5,500-home development approved
22 May 2024
North Northamptonshire Council has approved the final 3,383 homes and associated community buildings and infrastructure on Hanwood Park.
Hanwood Park estate was originally given outline approval in 2010.
Fiona Banks, who chairs the Hanwood Park Residents' Association, said: "We have some major challenges that this planning application will help with."
A total of 2,117 houses had already been approved by the council (NNC), with approximately 1,400 occupied, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
But new permission was required as the original outline consent has expired.
The renewed planning application includes a range of buildings, such as a mixed-use district centre, local services and workspaces, hotel and leisure development, a health clinic, three local centres for retail and community use, a secondary school and three primary schools.
Ms Banks said the plans would "help us to grow our already thriving community".
The rest of the project will be built in two phases over a 10-year period, seeing the development completed towards 2035.
